Hey, we’re Rally - 2 developers based in Slovenia 🇸🇮
Let’s talk about social audio apps: stuff like Clubhouse, Twitter Space and to a certain extension, Discord and Zoom.
Hot take: current platforms barely offer a satisfying experience for web2 users and they kind of suck for Web3 communities.
If you take a closer look at them, they all lack of a little something that makes incomplete :
- 🛑 accessibility - as a new user, how to onboard and use the app ( 👎Clubhouse, Reddit Talk)
- 🧘 Flexibility - as a creator, how much can I tailor who can access my room/recordings (👎 Zoom, Twitter Space)
- 🔎 discoverability - as a consumer, how easy is it to search and find audio chats and recordings that I’m interested in ( 👎Discord, Twitter Space)
- 🤝 Interoperability - announcing lives and/or sharing recordings hosted on other platforms like Anchor, Apple/Google podcast, Spotify… (👎 web2 platforms usually try to lock you in their apps)
- 🔒 Security, anonymity, data privacy ( 👎 web2 platforms don’t really care)
- 💰 a revenue stream for content creators (👎 web2 platforms don’t really care)
Web3 is unique because it offers us the tools to create an online experience that not only features these 6 principles but also:
- 1️⃣ Easily onboard entire communities;
- 2️⃣ Provides users an online experience where they are in total control of what they publish, who can access it, how, and when
This is how we got the idea to build Rally.
